Ok Phansa: Thai Buddhist Festival

The legend of Ok Phansa has it that the Lord Buddha retreated to heaven to deliver a sermon to his mother who had died seven days after his birth. After staying there for three months, the Lord Buddha completed his mission and returned to earth. People welcomed his return with great joy and excitement. Even the gods and goddesses joined in the ceremonies welcoming the Lord Buddha.(Source: http://www.thailand.com/travel/festival/festivals_okphansa.htm)

After the heavy rain and flooding, At Wat Kao Samoa Kraeng, Wangthong, Phitsanulok, this morning held the festival of Ok Phansa to maintain traditional of Ok Phansa which was one of the most important day for Buddhist in Thailand.

I joined the group of people from several villagers including visitors from nearby province to give dry food and rice to monks who walked down from the top of the mountain. The roll of monks together with young kids both male and female in traditional dressing as if they were angles who came down from heaven to greet the monk and people around.

Padthai is Thai noodle which is well known amongst visitors.
Here is the biggest pot of Pad Thai
I have seen many faces expressing happiness that shown on their smiling faces.  It's seem like a great day when yesterday I rushed to the supermarket to prepare dry food for monk in next morning, to arrange granddad and mom to make them ready for this festival, to waked up kids from bed, and to drovethem to the temple.  However, it's such a happy day ever be.
